Artist’s Statement

Scott LoBaido
A fourth Generation New Yorker, I am a self taught artist. Diverse in my style, medium, and subject. Many artists stick to one continuous method, however, I prefer the challenges of change and diversity. In my gallery you will experience a wide range of works from the surreal/abstract paintings and sculptures… to the pop art and unique love of Country.
I have respectfully painted thousands of renditions of the greatest work of art (old Glory). My greatest creative accomplishments thus far; “50 Flags across America” where I drove across the United States, in 10 months, and painted a large American Flag on one rooftop in each of the 50 states.
From June 14-July 4, 2010, I painted the World’s largest version of the Stars and Stripes. 150,000 square feet. 900 gallons of paint. 5 assistants.
From March to September 2011, I completed my second 50 state journey of refurbishing the flag murals from 2006, as well as painted many new ones.
Live Painting performance. There are several organizations that are raising funds to build appropriate homes for our disabled brave men and women in the armed forces. In 3-6 minutes I furiously paint renditions of Old Glory (to music) on a canvas. It’s then auctioned off to highest bidder. proceeds go to help this great cause. In spare time I try to get to as many schools as possible to perform the live painting in front of students. Showing them that patriotism can be fun, exciting, and cool.
Media:
My past is rather colorful and a bit provocative. My work has been featured in hundreds of newspaper articles, TV news programs and radio shows like CNN’s Anderson Cooper, FOX’s Bill O’Reilly, and Fox & Friends, and was named “Person of the Week” on ABC’s World News Tonight with Charlie Gibson. My work is featured in the documentary The Color Bearers…Stories of American Patriotism, And a new documentary on “The Pledge of Allegiance” by Ron Fenley, releasing in 2011.
Goal:
Invent new ways to portray Old Glory. Promote the benefits of Patriotism through my canvas. Thank all those who sacrifice their limbs and lives…for my freedom to express.
This Place is beyond great.
Let’s fall back in Love………with America!
